A Fashion Label for the Capital of Culture (29.06.2009)
“Bad Rabbit” is the new fashion label that Linz artist Astrid Benzer has created for “The Ill Rabbit” project. Her 12-piece “Bad Habit” collection blatantly displays some of Upper Austrian dialect’s most rip-roaring cuss-words! You can pick up your expletive-emblazoned wearable beginning June 30, 2009 at KunstRaum Goethestrasse xtd.
The Virgin of Orleans Morphs into “Joan Dark” (19.06.2009)
A contemporary interpretation of a classic work. Young Austrian director Aida Karic has set out to discover clues about the life and deeds of Jeanne d’Arc. Karic’s aim: to locate connections between Schiller’s material and what’s transpiring in the world today. Her production takes us into the midst of a militarized society.
Midsummer Night’s Music with the Bruckner Orchestra (18.06.2009)
The Bruckner Orchestra led by chief conductor Dennis Russell Davies is Upper Austria’s premier symphony orchestra. It’s also made quite a name for itself worldwide. Later this month, the Bruckner Orchestra will perform at Classics Alfresco. Admission is free.
“Listening to Peace” in the Brucknerhaus (18.06.2009)
Peace is a frequently recurring theme in the history of music: as an admonishment against war, as a critique of militarism or as a vision of true and lasting harmony. Works that are superb examples of this will be presented by “Listening to Peace,” a conversation concert set for June 29. Tickets are still available.
Between the Autobahn and the Landscape Park – Bellevue: The Yellow House (18.06.2009)
The next time you spot a bright yellow building while whizzing through Linz on the expressway, you’ll know where it’s at. That’s Bellevue, a cultural venue that will be open until fall to host a wide array of activities including film screenings, dance, cooking and musical events, talk shows, children’s programmes and a weekly Sunday brunch.
Theatre for Young Audiences (18.06.2009)
This year's 5th Schäxpir International Theatre Festival has been working in cooperation with Linz09 to stage several international co-productions. 170 events at venues in Linz, Wels, Gmunden and Steyr make the festival a major highlight of this summer’s cultural calendar.
Immerse Yourself in a Refreshing New Scene on the Banks of the Danube (18.06.2009)
On five upcoming weekends, the Culture Bathing project invites you to partake of the Danube in a utopian, off-beat setting—strolling its banks and swimming its waters. Summertime theatre outings let you experience the culture beyond the Capital of Culture.

Fascinating Science in the Kepler Salon (17.06.2009)
The former residence of astronomer Johannes Kepler in Linz’s Rathausgasse has been serving as a setting for discussions about science this year. Each week, the Kepler Salon invites experts to deliver addresses and participate in Q&A sessions about a wide variety of scientific fields and issues. The program of events lined up for the 3rd quarter of 2009 is now online.
Jazz Conclave in Linz (17.06.2009)
Jazz experts and scholars in the field of film studies will be gathering in Linz this week for the Radio Jazz Research conference. The focus will be on the many diverse facets of the relationship between jazz and film. Accompanying the activities will be a concert program, admission to which is free of charge.
Höhenrausch opens again (05.06.2009)
The Exhibition has to be closed on Thursday 4 June, because of official inspections. On Wednesday there was a fire in the Ursulinenhof. HÖHENRAUSCH fortunately is not affected.

Brass and Woodwind Instrumental Music through the Centuries (04.06.2009)
Brass and woodwind music is an artform with deep roots in Austria. The “Wood&Brass” project invites you to take a musical tour through Linz - from the Castle via Pfarrplatz Square and the Ursulinenhof cultural center to Schloss Ebelsberg, into an Austrian Federal Railways workshop and around the grounds of the voestalpine steel mill.
Of Oceangoing Ships, Cowboys and Dynamited Skyscrapers (04.06.2009)
Anniversaries are grounds for jubilation! But the “Odd Jubilees” project insists that such festivities don’t always have to commemorate round-number occasions! In this spirit, project principals present a few special and somehow rather bizarre moments in Linz history.
A Landscape Turns to Music (04.06.2009)
Ulrichsberg, a village in Upper Austria’s Mühlviertel region, and its surrounding countryside have provided inspiration for the musical themes of a seven-part work entitled “Landscape Opera.” The crescendo comes in June.
YES09 – Essen Takes the Finale (02.06.2009)
There was lots of action on local football pitches over the long Whitsuntide weekend. Ten sides representing Linz’s sister cities battled it out for the coveted YES09 title and show-cased their impressing playing skills.
