Jazz in Upper Austria’s Mühlviertel District (30.11.2009)
An excursion up to Ulrichsberg amidst the scenic rolling hills northwest of Linz has long been a rewarding experience for fans of contemporary music. Jazzatelier Ulrichsberg has made an international name for itself with innovative festivals. This year's production, PHONOMANIE 9, pays homage to jazz musician Paul Lovens.

“Die Bilder” (The Pictures), the official Linz09 commemorative volume, comes out in a few days. Great Flicks for Young Cinéastes (19.11.2009)
This is the hot ticket for kids and families, the young and the young-at-heart: the fourth INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN’S FILM FESTIVAL presented by Kinderfreunde, an Upper Austrian children’s rights NGO. There’ll be screenings of motion pictures from all over the world for youngsters age 6 and up. The unique feature: live dubbing!
24 Hours without Music (19.11.2009)
The feast day of St. Cecilia, the patron saint of music, is November 22nd. The day before, we’ll be doing something special to make people cognizant of music and its role in our lives. On November 21st, Linz will be at the center of the worldwide observation of NO MUSIC DAY
A Space for Silence (19.11.2009)
In November 2008, the former Centralkino movie theater on Landstraße was converted into a space conducive to tranquility and heightened sensitivity towards auditory impressions. ACOUSTIC REFUGE CENTRALKINO has offered free admission to the general public ever since.
Mr. Punch and His Worldwide Counterparts (19.11.2009)
The theater festival “That’s the Way to Do It! A Proper Punch & Judy Show” was featured in the last issue of our newsletter. In the meantime, Mr. Punch & Co. have arrived in Linz. One production takes our hero off the beaten path – to Afghanistan, of all places!
Bertolt Brecht in the Landestheater (19.11.2009)
Matthias Langhoff is one of the top names in European theater. The director has worked primarily in French-speaking lands in recent years. Now, he’s presenting a German-language play once again: “Im Dickicht der Städte” (In the Jungle of Cities), an early work by Brecht.
Fantasies from Perle, the City of Dreams (05.11.2009)
Alfred Kubin’s only novel, “The Other Side,” appeared in 1909, and the artist died in 1959. Thus, two round-number anniversaries provide a fitting occasion to focus on Kubin’s literary talents, a facet of his work few are familiar with. This encounter will be a theatrical one.

Image and sound, eye and ear—inseparable pairings nowadays. In our modern world, audiovisual impressions are omnipresent. See this Sound, a major exhibition at the Lentos Art Museum Linz and an extensive online archive, elaborates on the entire audiovisual spectrum in art and media. There’s also an interesting program of accompanying events.
