Great Flicks for Young Cinéastes
This is the hot ticket for kids and families, the young and the young-at-heart: the fourth INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN’S FILM FESTIVAL presented by Kinderfreunde, an Upper Austrian children’s rights NGO. There’ll be screenings of motion pictures from all over the world for youngsters age 6 and up. The unique feature: live dubbing!
Entertaining movies, thought-provoking cinema, imaginative celluloid journeys to distant lands and different times, rooting for your favorite big-screen heroes, animated adventures and thrill-packed plots—that’s what great filmmaking for young people is all about! Each film on the INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN’S FILM FESTIVAL lineup is screened with its original soundtrack; a German translation is provided on-site. The works come from all over the world—for instance, “Carlitos and the Land of Dreams” in which a Spanish orphan imagines life as a football star. There’s the Swedish-produced adventures of a cow named Mama Muh who’s not content with just lounging around her pasture. And “Niloofar,” a coming-of-age drama about a girl living in a village on the Iran-Iraq border. Those are just a few selections from the great program of films that Moviemento Kino will be presenting all week long!A fascinating introduction to the subject of dubbing was provided this past summer at a workshop in which up-and-coming producers could experiment with developing revised soundtracks for motion picture sequences. The interesting results will be presented on November 28 at a gala event that will also feature improvisational theater by the Impropheten.
