A Space for Silence
Copyright: Linz09
In November 2008, the former Centralkino movie theater on Landstraße was converted into a space conducive to tranquility and heightened sensitivity towards auditory impressions. ACOUSTIC REFUGE CENTRALKINO has offered free admission to the general public ever since.
It’s loud along Landstraße and throughout Linz’s inner city. It’s noisy in downtown stores too, and the seasonal music that will be incessantly bombarding shoppers there during the upcoming Christmas season is sure to crank up the volume yet another notch. The solution: seek serenity in ACOUSTIC REFUGE CENTRALKINO conveniently located amidst the hustle and bustle of Landstraße! You get a soothing reception as soon as you set foot in the Lobby, where comfortable seating arrangements, a tea bar and a small library invite you to kick back and relax. Beyond is the acoustic refuge itself featuring wood-panel-clad walls and a spacious landscape of cushions designed for sitting and reclining. Here, peace & quiet reaches its joyful crescendo! ACOUSTIC REFUGE CENTRALKINO will close for good on November 21st. Until then, there’s still some time to treat your ears to the sounds of silence.ACOUSTIC REFUGE CENTRALKINO
