THE 09 CULTURE OF WASHING – A NEIGHBOURHOOD WASHES COLOUREDS

“Doing the washing” as a global cultural activity – an everyday chore that puts locals from a number of different ethnic backgrounds in touch with preschools, schools, institutions of after school care, youth centres and local businesses. An installation consisting of 52 individual pieces of washing and a heap of laundry convert the Haidgattern Park into an open air washing saloon. A multimedia exhibition will deal with the theme of how different cultures cope with “doing the washing”. The shop windows of near-by businesses will feature items from Wäschepflegemuseum Reinbach im Mühlkreis. The opening will take place on 4 July, the closing festivities on 1 August 2009.

On July 4, 2009, open from 11 AM until the end of the event
From opening day until the end of the month, the installations in the park, the multimedia exhibition in the Creativwerkstatt and the objects on exhibit in nearby stores can be viewed daily.
