The Subversive Fair being staged in mid-May is a one-of-a-kind event—social criticism, amusing initiatives & witty stunts, fascinating ideas and actionist activities amidst what ironically looks an awful lot like a run-of-the-mill trade show. But this fair entails much more than pushing products; what’s being purveyed here to a far greater extent are ideas and stimuli to get people into a proactive mode. The Subversive Fair thus offers visitors a convenient one-stop shop for intense confrontations with sociopolitical issues and the chance to deal critically with a wide variety of content. In addition to the four-day trade show, Social Impact’s staff will also be staging a gala show, a symposium on the subject of “States of Normalcy amidst the Crisis” as well as an evening entertainment program featuring music and cabaret. The fair will culminate with a classically thirst-quenching Austrian brunch down at the harbor.
