Dozens of activists convened in May 2009 at Linz harbor to present the latest developments on the resistance front. Attendees could meet & greet subversive elements in a realistic trade show setting for a concentrated exchange of strategies fomenting radical social upheaval. The mix of practical tools, theoretical knowledge, activist interventions and political and artistic forms of resistance created a state of productive chaos that advanced the revolutionary cause.
The choice of trade fair as presentation vehicle got across the aim of this project loud and clear! This was a fitting way for an alliance named Social Impact to demonstrate that subversion doesn’t just mean radicalism; it can also be understood as actions that dovetail with regular everyday life. This means that anybody can be subversive without thereby become a lawbreaker, as the use of the term subversion in common parlance implies. Amidst an ambience suffused with irony and humor, fairgoers could try out various ways and means designed to enable people to start individually subverting the powers that be in their own little corner of the establishment.
In this spirit—what’s good for subversion is good for us all!
