Ahmet Özhan is a renowned musician of classical Turkish and Sufi works. The Dancing Dervishes will accompany his performance at Hafenhalle09.
Ahmet Özhan began performing at a very young age. Following his musical education at the Istanbul Conservatory and the Uskudar Classical Turkish Music Society he became a popular performer of classical Turkish music in the 1970s and 80s. In the following years, he worked with the great masters one-on-one, while also making his own albums. Ever since the early eighties he has been considered a pioneer of new Sufi music in Turkey. Özhan has received many awards in the field of classical Turkish music and has cultivated an appreciation of Turkish music throughout the world. He is the founder and musical director of the Istanbul Historical Music Ensemble.
