Jurij KONJAR (SLO)
Born in Ljubljana in 1978, Jurij initially trained in Judo. He began dancing at the age of 13 and took part in ballroom dance competitions throughout Slovenia and Europe. He then switched to jazz, tap, modern dance and ballet. He studied modern dance in New York and musical at the Urdang Academy in London. Pursuing his interest in contemporary dance, he then studied at PARTS in Brussels. He worked with a number of companies across Europe; of them, Les Ballets C de la B and En Knap were most influential. From 2003 to 2006 he collaborated with Gabrielle Nankivell (AUS) under the name OX co., creating and performing their work internationally. His latest work is a solo piece titled “Ulysses.” In 2005, Jurij won the Audience Prize for the best performance at Moving Cake Festival in Ljubljana and the Merman Award as the most promising up-and-coming young choreographer.
