Martina WINKEL (AT)
Martina Winkel was born in Ybbs/Donau and currently lives in Vienna. She studied theater arts and art history, received training in acting and voice, and worked as an assistant director and assistant dramaturge in Vienna and Berlin. During a study visit in Indonesia, she got intensively involved with traditional shadow theater. She is a founding member of Theater ohne Grenzen in Vienna. In addition to productions that entail acting, object and puppet theater, projections and live video, the group has been involved since 1993 in a wide array of projects and performances that explore the multifaceted effects of shadow play. Martina Winkel is artistic co-director of Die Macht des Staunens, an international puppet theater festival for grown-ups and, as dramaturge, director, actress and shadow player, has staged numerous independent productions for adults and young people. Shadow workshops, theater with disabled and temporarily able actors, guest appearances and co-productions have taken her to South Africa, Singapore, Germany, Italy, France, Hungary, Russia, England, Australia and Turkey.
