Frans POELSTRA (NL/AT)
Frans Poelstra works as a performer, director, coach and teacher. He produces and tours primarily in Europe. “United Sorry” launched his international (Amsterdam/Vienna) collaboration with author/performer Robert Steijn. Their joint performances have included “Frans Poelstra, his dramaturge and Bach” (ImPulsTanz Vienna, 2004), “I am... in concert” (Coda festival, Oslo 2004), “The Intensifiers, part 1,” “Hosting Matt Mullican” (Linz, 2006), “Dan, Martha, Trisha, Frans and Robert” (Tanzquartier Vienna, 2006) and “feminine delight” steirischer herbst, Graz, 2007). In 2003, he did a solo performance entitled “Frans Poelstra zaubert” about his mid-life crisis. Frans Poelstra organized “an afternoon of entertainment” in Kunsthalle Project Space Vienna, where he celebrated his birthday amidst radical local Vienna (2005). Other works: an improvisation project curated by Meg Stuart entitled “Auf den Tisch” (Tanzquartier Vienna and Mozarteum Salzburg, 2006); a dance performance for teenagers entitled “F-art” with five dancers from X.ida in Linz (2006); and, in collaboration with Andrea Bold, “beinander,” a performance featuring elderly people and babies (Tanzquartier Vienna, 2007).
Since 1984, Frans Poelstra has frequently held workshops at educational institutions, festivals and dance and theater facilities in Amsterdam, Lisbon, Maputo (Mozambique), Montreal, Helsinki, Paris, Berlin, Vienna, Oslo and many other locations.
