Doris EBNER (AT)
Doris Ebner was born in 1962 in Steyr, Upper Austria and studied classical and modern dance at the Gangl Studio in Linz. Following her training, she perfected her contemporary dance technique in Spain, France and the Netherlands. She was a member of the Krüppelschlag artists’ collective and collaborated on projects with Esther Linley and Klaus Maria Brandauer. These works were the impetus for her to co-found (with Roderich Madl) in 1993 Pilottanzt, a company in which she has been active as a dancer, choreographer and dramaturge. In 1995, Doris Ebner and Roderich Madl launched the “short cuts” series, an ongoing showcase of the development of contemporary dance.
From 1997 to 1998, their duet “Frost” was a part of the “dance road” international network tour. Pilottanzt won the Austrian Dance Prize in 1998. Its performance entitled “It’s You Man” debuted in 1999. In 2000, Pilottanzt took part in the EXPO in Hannover. During the winter of 1999-2000, Ebner and Madl went on a research trip to Australia; the upshot was
their frequently performed piece “E-N-D.” Following their production of “x-tracts” in 2000, they successfully toured from 2001 to 2003 through Germany, Luxemburg, Poland and Austria with “Moving Gallery.” Doris Ebner then worked on the production of “i feel sick” and “Follow the Flow” for the ImPulsTanz Festival in Vienna.
