Hubert LEPKA (AT)
Hubert Lepka was born in 1958 in Ried im Innkreis. He lives and works with his family at Passauergut in the southern Innviertel district of Upper Austria. Hubert Lepka studied voice (opera) and contemporary dance at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, and law at the University of Salzburg. Since 1992, Hubert Lepka has been the artistic director of lawine torrèn, a network of dancers, actors, choreographers, media artists and technicians that is renowned above all for its large-scale open-air productions staged at unusual locations. In 2003, lawine torrèn produced “Taurus Rubens” for the opening of Hangar 7 at Salzburg Airport. In 2005, the artists’ network under the direction of Hubert Lepka staged the Visualized Klangwolke in Linz. Recent productions include “Dinner mit Jerôme” (2008), a co-production with Szene Salzburg and ImPulsTanz Vienna, “love turn” (2007), “skyhook” inspired by Jean-Luc Godard’s “Alphaville” and “knights club,” a project at the nexus of film and performance.
