Ivo DIMCHEV (BG/NL)
A native of Bulgaria, Ivo Dimchev has made a name for himself throughout Europe as a choreographer and performer, above all for his radical work in physical theatre. Selected performances: “Five,” Antwerp, Belgium 2008; “Enjoy July,” Belef Theatre Festival in Belgrade, Serbia 2007; “Medea,” Zambek Theatre Festival, Hungary 2007; “Liar,” Sweden 2007; and “Lili Handel,” Sweden 2005. His works have been produced in many countries including Bulgaria, Macedonia, France, Hungary, USA, Italy, Turkey, Rumania, Germany, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Sweden, Canada, Ireland, England, Austria, Egypt, Belgium, the Netherlands and Spain. Ivo Dimchev is also the founder and director of the Humarts Foundation, and annually organizes an international and local contemporary choreography competition in Sofia. Since September 2007, Ivo Dimchev has been attending the two-year program of the Dasarts Academy in Amsterdam. He has been the recipient of numerous awards—for instance, the prize for the best dance theatre production for the trilogy “2 solos 1 duet/Thank you,” “The R and Golden duet/- SZASZSZ” at the 13th Alternative Theatre Festival in Hungary in 2007.
