Galina BORISSOVA (BG)
Galina Boriisova is a dancer and choreographer whose work has a very strong theatrical aspect. She first makes a significant impression at the American Dance Festival ’96, where she was participating in the International Choreographers Residency Program. She has created more than 20 projects of her own that have been performed at theaters and festivals worldwide including Spring Dance (Utrecht), Dance Theatre Workshop (New York), Le Subsistances (Lyon) and Dance Across Borders (Sweden).
As a dancer she has worked with such choreographers as Louise Bedard (Canada), Lenka Flory (Czech Republic), Simone Sandroni (Italy) and Kubilai Khan Investigations (France). She has taught at the New Bulgarian University (Sofia), the Duncan Center (Prague), Norderlingers (Groningen, Holland), Theatre Studio 4XC (Sofia) and the National Academy of Film and Cinema (Sofia), and has also conducted numerous workshops. In 1998 she received first prize for her performance “A Never Ending Story” in Gronigen at the International Competition for Choreographers. From 1999 to 2003 Galina Borissova represented Bulgarian dance as a partner of the AEROWAVES European network initiated by the Palace Theatre in London. Her solo piece “Juanita Hildegard Bo” was awarded the Golden Medal of Honor at the Belgrade International Festival for Mono Drama and Solo Performer. Galina Borissova also publishes in various newspapers and magazines as well as online.
