Rotary Clubs in Linz and Upper Austria recruited companies interested in making their premises available for exhibitions and to acquiring works of art. In place of photos of company facilities, sales graphs and pie charts, it was regional artists who were getting all the attention in these firms’ lobbies, meeting rooms and hallways during the Capital of Culture year. For business executives, these events were a great opportunity to hold a reception that makes a unique, positive statement to customers, staff and friends of the firm. The exhibitions and installations were also open to the public during certain hours. For the artists, this form of collaboration was a chance to confront people with art beyond the confines of museums and galleries. And these contacts with the business community also enabled them to present their works to audiences that otherwise might be hard to reach. Plus, as a collateral effect, the business in art could flourish too. A catalog provided information about participating artists and opening hours.
