Trialogue of Jews, Christians and Muslims: A panel discussion among prominent representatives of the three Abrahamic religions and a setting for musical encounters.

Where there are people affiliated with different traditions of religious belief, conscious perception and acknowledgment of the differences are needed. Part of the quality of life and the cultural maturity of a city are public meeting places where impediments to mutual understanding can be reduced and where the different groups can meet and come to appreciate one another. ABRAHAM’S HEIRS invited experts to convene in Hafenhalle09 for a panel discussion. Christine Haiden moderated; the panelists were Paul Chaim Eisenberg representing Judaism, Amir Zaidan representing Islam, and Michael Bünker and Rainer Bucher representing Christianity. What ties link the Abrahamic religions? What do they have in common and how do they differ? How does each religion define itself? How tolerant are they, and how can tolerance be nurtured? The speakers frankly discussed these questions and other current issues.
The second evening featured selected musical treasures of the three religions performed in the Redoutensälen: a Viennese Klezmer band; Gazel, a Bosnian Islamic women’s choir; and the Chorale of the Linz Protestant Choir.
