However, Canadian theatremaker Jacob Wren and Flemish writer Pieter de Buysser disagree with this. They feel the world needs optimism, a new kind optimism which can be just as smart and nuanced as the forces of pessimism. Their search for this ‘critical optimism’ covers many cities and takes in many stages of intelligence gathering in the process of creating a performance which will present the results. THE ANTHOLOGY OF OPTIMISM is a project produced by Campo, the Ghent company formerly known as Victoria, who have specialised over the years in wonderful and unusual theatrical projects by Alain Platel, Jérôme Bel and others.
