CIRCUS LEBASI
"Anything that’s different is circus.
Johann Le Guillerm
In the wooden tent the Circus Band in blue-green jackets, the juggling Circus Director, the Circus Boy running errands for the ring master, the Candy Man in the interval, "Adagio con Confettis" - the Grand Finale with the band for a last "au revoir". All this quasi an empty box, actually inventary.
Yet what is Circus?
It could be a car in the arena - or a monkey? Or 100 metronomes in the circus ring, or a toy piano soloist. That is Circus. CIRCUS LEBASI.
The band is playing (partly together with the toy piano soloist) music that was especially written for it by Max Nagl, the metronomes are performing the "Poème Symphonique" by György Ligeti, and the toy piano soloist is presenting works by John Cage, Karlheinz Essl, Matthew Hindson and Stephen Montague.
Idea/Concept // Isabel Ettenauer, Jérôme Thomas
Perfomers // Isabel Ettenauer, Jérôme Thomas, Franck Ténot, Ensemble09, Emmanuelle Grobet (costumes), Bernard Revel (lights), Alfred Reiter (sound)
