Academy of the Impossible 2008
Copyright: Linz09
The first workshops of the ACADEMY OF THE IMPOSSIBLE already got started in summer 2008, inviting all those to join who wanted to experience new things, solve problems, explore the limits they encounter in their daily lives—and go beyond them. Growth and innovation were essential ingredients of this project that took place at unusual and rather curious locations—streets, shops, and a wide range of historical, industrial, social locations, or simply public places where random audiences could observe what the participants were up to.
The Academy’s faculty members were artists—some Austrians, some from all over the world—who have a knack for making the impossible happen. Each course was oriented on the instructor’s particular area of expertise or special interest, and dealt with a wide array of facets of everyday life. The 31 workshops that were offered in summer 2008 were divided into two types: “do it all” cumulative courses lasting several days, and “mix & match” sessions that lasted anywhere from an hour to a whole day.
More than 1,000 participants from the Linz metropolitan area, throughout Austria and from foreign countries took part in the ACADEMY OF THE IMPOSSIBLE’s colorful program. This project’s mission—combining professionalism and passion—proved to be a big hit. The many presentations and concerts attracted a big turnout, including numerous relatives and acquaintances of the participants.
