Ulrichsberger Kaleidophon 2009 - Musikfestival im Jazzatelier Ulrichsberg
Press Information
Wednesday 15 April 2009
The festival has been staged annually since 1986. The upcoming 24th edition will run from Thursday, April 30 to Saturday, May 2, 2009. The lineup features 11 concerts by musicians from Europe, America and Japan—nine in the festival’s own facility at Badergasse 2 and one each in the Parish Church and the Leitner Linen Weaving Mill.
This year’s Kaleidophon is being produced in cooperation with Linz 2009 European Capital of Culture. In concrete terms, this means that three performances are world premieres of works commissioned by Linz09: “Can you ear me?”, a new piece by French musician Joëlle Léandre that’s being developed on site with an Austrian ensemble; “Omnixus,” Ulrichsberger saxophonist Tanja Feichtmair’s latest project dealing with sound’s motion in space; and “Weaving Sounds,” a concert that a group named Six Plus One has conceived especially for the Leitner mill in Ulrichsberg.
In addition to the concert lineup, festivalgoers will also be able to take in the first three acts of Peter Ablinger’s “Landscape Opera” (another work produced in cooperation with Linz09)
