I LIKE TO MOVE IT MOVE IT – A One-of-a-kind Contribution by the Linz International School Auhof (LISA)
Press Release
02 March 2009
LISA has a very international student body, and the various contributions by participating students were correspondingly diverse. The youngsters took the stage both as solo artists and in groups to give performances ranging from rap acts and film scenes all the way to Hamlet’s monolog. There was something from just about every genre—a lot of different languages too.
In designing their performances, students received expert advice and feedback from the participating artists but by no means strict guidelines or mandatory concepts. The rehearsals as well as the performance before a live audience have done quite a bit to strengthen many of the students’ self-confidence, which certainly came across in the form of the enthusiasm and enjoyment they exuded while on stage.
Each individual scene was a discrete, stand-alone entity, but putting them together also created a unitary whole. The songs, poems, news stories, film & TV scenes, as well as material that makes reference to history, literature and politics blended together to form a collage depicting the world inhabited by these 13- and 14-year-old protagonists.
