20 Years Heimspiel: 1989 - 2009!

What began as an experiment in 1989 – giving local and regional musicians a free hand in the programming and budgeting of a whole month at the Posthof – celebrates its 20th anniversary in Culture Capital Year! (For sticklers: We took time out in 1995). This calls for a bang, not a whimper… The musical part of HEIMSPIEL 2009 is trying to rise to the occasion and has donned its red-white-red glad rags. But it will not be business as usual. HEIMSPIEL 09 will not only be concentrating on up-and-coming bands but will be featruing Upper Austrian bands that already look to be well on their way to fame and fortune. The first in the series of (musical) HEIMSPIEL gigs roars into life on 29 January; the chart storming MONDSCHEINER take the stage with their new album fresh from the press); this will be followed by the HipHop luminaries TEXTA, who will be celebrating their 16th year with the help of some big league guests. The SOFA SURFERS will première their latest programme – live film music accompanying visuals from Wolf Haas films featuring Josef Hader – at the HEIMSPIEL, and RUSSKAJA, the Balkanesque band currently first choice for Stermann & Grissemann’s "Willkommen Österreich", will stop off at the Posthof as part of their "Sputnik Tour". Additional fixtures are the annual talent promotion shows, the AUSTRIAN NEWCOMER AWARD, the BORG SOUNDS – the Pop-BORG is due to celebrate its 10th anniversary (and Posthof has been part of it all from the word go *yeah*) – , METAL OVERDOSE #amp; 25 VS. PUNKORAMA #amp; 15 (my, how time does fly…) and Intra-Galaxie for Drum'n'Bass-/Breakbeat-DJs & MCs, the NO COMMENT. Add to this the CD Release Party of SKABUCKS, the HOMEGROWN RIDDIM FESTIVAL for the dreadlock scene and a "Tribute to the Linz rock legend Hubert Grillberger" on the first anniversary of his death, which will also see the release of a "Best of" double CD featuring Hubert’s music.

All in all, a satisfying programme for "hungry" audiences!
