80,000 visitors at 9 PM in Linz’s riverside Donaupark
This was the first time that Linz staged a two-part Klangwolke (Cloud of Sound). Things got underway at 3 PM, when more than 500 fantasy creatures brilliantly designed by artist Roger Titley began making their way through downtown Linz, transforming the inner city into an incredible biotope and enchanting thousands of astonished passers-by.
“The Ark,” the main event at this year's Visualized Klangwolke, commenced at 9 PM in the park between the Brucknerhaus and the Danube. This highly imaginative spectacle was conceived and produced by Airan Berg and Martina Winkel. An impressive sequence of live images portrayed the prehistoric Flood, the catastrophic destruction of civilization, and the rescue of the world’s creatures by the Ark. It took excellent teamwork by lots of very talented people to stage this extravaganza; special mention should be made of actors Andrea Eckert and Wolfram Berger as well as Dick van der Harst’s music.
