The LANDSCAPE OPERA project is an attempt at a creative relaunch within the scope of the operatic genre. It’s an overarching designation subsuming mutually independent activities and diverse artforms. Ulrichsberg, its physical setting and resources, the surrounding landscape and the everyday life of its inhabitants, constitute the material, libretto and content. The work consists of seven acts, each designed in its own unique way: tree planting, hiking map, sound archive, video installation, display window arrangement, a student project, and—as the work’s musical crescendo—a festival.
