Easter Discount: “Put some Spring into your cultural life with the Linz09 Insider!”
Press Information
Tuesday 7 April
Ever since the opening of the Linz09 Infocenter in November 2008, the Linz09 Insider has been selling like hotcakes! Up through the end of March, 7,250 smart consumers have purchased the pass providing super advantages throughout the Capital of Culture year. “Customers really appreciate being able to attend Capital of Culture productions spontaneously and as often as they like,” explained Christa Aigner, director of the Linz09 Infocenter. The feature-packed Linz09 program continues in high gear over the coming months. In May, there’ll be about 100 performances in a circus tent set up at a variety of locations. In June, Aida Karic’s “Queens” series kicks off with “Joan Dark.” In July, Theater Mania 2: Sunburn will be staging a total of 14 productions. “For tickets to the theater performances, Insiders pay only €9, a 50% discount,” Aigner noted. “This alone makes the yearly pass a very smart purchase—for Linzers as well as out-of-towners in for a visit.”
Here you’ll find a complete overview of all the advantages of being a Linz09 Insider.
Linz09 Insider Easter Discount: The Extras:
A DOZEN OF EUROPE Free Admission Pass
Linz09 and Posthof are showcasing up-and-coming young musical talent from the “new” EU member states in Eastern Europe. Everyone who purchases a Linz09 Insider during this special Easter weekend sale will be able to attend the concert of their choice for free over the coming eight months. Plus, Insiders are entitled to reduced-price admission (€7 instead of €9) for the entire A DOZEN OF EUROPE series in the Posthof.
Musicians in a wide variety of genres—rock, world, electronic and pop, to name a few—will be building musical bridges to Austria from the Czech Republic, Bulgaria and lots of other interesting places. A few of these bands have already begun to make a name for themselves in the West; others are totally unknown beyond the broadcasting range of their local radio stations and the confines of clubs in their home countries.
Concert dates are listed here.
Book Drawing
Everyone who purchases (fills out the application card for) a Linz09 Insider during the long Easter weekend is automatically entered in a drawing for one of 60 copies of the Linz09 anthology “Linz.Randgeschichten” (Stories from the Edge) recently published by Picus Verlag in Vienna.
Excerpts from reviews of “Linz.Randgeschichten”:
• “Erich Hackl, Anna Mitgutsch, Eugenie Kain, Ludwig Laher, Martin Pollack, Margit Schreiner, Walter Wippersberg and Robert Schindel have stepped forward to contribute their own personal views from the edge—into the heart of what is now Europe’s Capital of Culture and the hearts of the people who live here.” (Neues Volksblatt / March 10, 2009)
• “These are accounts of what’s been forgotten and what’s worth remembering, from the perspective of those who emigrated, those who were excluded, the victims and the perpetrators... This is a book of enduring value, one that will still be worth reading long after the Capital of Culture year is over.” (www.oe1.orf.at / March 11, 2009)
