Extra Europa – Tanz / Theater aus der Schweiz
Press Release
Thursday, 2 April 2009
Alias: Approcher la poussière
The Geneva dance combo gives accounts of everyday life from a wide array of perspectives.
Saturday, April 4, 2009, 8 PM at Posthof, Posthofstrasse 43, 4020 Linz
Considered in a different light, even the simplest of stories undergoes changes.
A day like any other… The sort of day on which nothing happens from beginning to end. The rough outlines of a well-planned day. A well-planned day one spends at home, at work, on the streets, at the doctor, with other people. A day of unexpected difficulties, of time spent waiting, of boredom. The same little story in another light enables us to see more than just the contours, to get a close-up look, to use x-ray vision to see the skeleton deep inside—from another point of view, with more pictures, with additional details.

Hernan / Leuenberger: ENTER MY BUBBLE
A performance that uses wit and stereotypes about Switzerland to bring smiles to audience members’ faces.
Monday, April 6 & Thursday, April 7, 2009 at 8 PM at Hafenhalle09, Industriezeile 47a, 4020 Linz
Immediately following the performance, there will be audience Q&A moderated by Airan Berg
A contemporary folkdance? An advertising slogan to get tourists to come to Switzerland? A balancing act between clichés and profundity?
A woman from French-speaking western Switzerland and a man from the country’s German-speaking east invite audience members for a sojourn in their own personal homeland. Katy and Chris use the vocabulary of dance to unearth their roots before the spectators’ very eyes. They journey through a highly diverse, picturesque landscape and, along the way, strip off their identity layer by layer—all in the hope of getting to a little plot of land called home.
The precursor of this work was honored with the 2007 Premio Prize for Young Artists. This is a co-production of Dampfzentrale Bern and the hetveem theater Amsterdam.

Cie7273: Lai Lai Lai Lai
The Geneva dance company deals with memories, the past, dream worlds and the music of the ‘70s.
Thursday, April 9, 2009 at 8 PM in Posthof, Posthofstrasse 43, 4020 Linz
This fantasy journey into the ‘70s with choreographers Laurence Jadi and Nicolas Cantillon starts off with a song. Bob Dylan (or somebody who looks just like him) walks out on stage and begins an acoustic performance. This concert situation develops into a world of intense sensuality and playful innocence. A world full of things from a time that those partaking of it no longer know from their own personal recollections but that has had a major influence on the course their lives have taken.
Laï laï laï laï expresses Cie 7273’s wish to experimentally cross the limits of ones own experience and transcend the boundaries of conventional artistic practice. Dance is extracted from its comfortable, familiar surroundings and naively, joyously combined with other artforms to open up a window on an unknown world.
