Linz and the Region

Some people spend their days off taking a car trip from the city to the countryside in nearby Mühlviertel; others commute from those outlying regions to their workplace in Linz. The traces of these back-and-forth flows make spatial interrelationships visible. Journey Time. Cultures of Commuting entails four fascinating bus routes that follow these traces. With consummate competence and artistry, traveling companions will escort participants on excursions into cultures past and present (February to September 2009).

Landscape Opera, a seven-part work by Peter Ablinger, is the attempt at a very ambitious new start in the operatic genre with mutually independent activities and highly diverse artforms. Ulrichsberg, its geographical surroundings and resources, the landscape, people’s everyday lives and thus the unique local qualities of this place provide material, libretto and content (Act 1: throughout 2009 / Acts 2-6: April 30 to June 14, 2009 / Act 7 (concert main act): June 13, 2009).
