Linz09-Infocenter - Building site inspection
Linz09-Infocenter
Hauptplatz 5, 4020 Linz
(formerly Citizens’ Service Bureau Tax Office East)
Building site inspection: Monday, 29 September 2008, 12 a.m.
Construction work is in full swing for the central information point of Linz 2009 European Capital of Culture, which will be jointly operated from November 2008 by Tourismusverband Linz and Linz09.
Located in the premises of the former Citizens’ Service Bureau of the Tax Office East in Hauptplatz, it will be the key contact point for visitors of the Cultural Capital and for Linzers who want to purchase tickets or souvenirs, obtain information material and use the internet access.
Caramel Architects, who emerged as the winners of a by-invitation-only competition in 2007, were commissioned to design the Linz09 Info Center with a total floor space of 170m² dedicated to information and shops (plus 65m² of office space) and an outside area of 350m².
Once the staff of Tourist Information have moved to the Linz09 Info Center Tourismusverband Linz will be offering visitors to the city an even more attractive contact point. The city’s competence in the areas of culture and tourism will become even more manifest for visitors courtesy of the Center’s generous modern interior.
The Tourist Information staff will be added to so that the operation of the counters is optimized to cope with the expected increase in visitors owing to Linz09.
The premises that Tourist Information used up till now will be converted into a contact point for the coming year, from which partners of the Capital of Culture such as HotSpots, Cityring, hotels, etc. can be supplied with information material and forms in greater quantities. The required material will either be picked up here and/or high-volume orders will be received here and delivered directly.
After the end of Cultural Capital year the Tourist Information will move back to its traditional premises in the old townhall.
Info management / Info points Linz09
Linz09 Info Center will, as has been pointed out already, be operated jointly in close collaboration by Linz09 GmbH and Tourismusverband Linz. The same applied to the whole area of information management. In order to guarantee optimal access to information, we have developed a three-stage model together which will meet most of the needs of both locals and visitors during Cultural Capital year.
Within this three-stage model there is an additional differentiation between staffed desks and desks without staff.
Linz09 Info Center
Linz09-Infocenter, located in Hauptplatz (former Citzens’ Service Bureau in the Tax Office East), serves as the central contact point for all matters related to information management.
Its tasks include the sale of tickets for a wide variety of events and of merchandizing products in the shop area; at the same time it is the central information point regarding the programme of Linz09 and also handles tourist matters such as the booking of guided city tours, rooms, etc.
Linz09-Info Point
Linz09-Info Points are places where there is staff to provide assistance to guests/visitors. Located in the Ars Electronica Center, Linz railway station, Blue Danube Airport Linz, Linz AG Customers’ Center (Schillerstraße) and Passage City Center, they will also handle ticket sales and programme information.
Info points set up by the city of Linz (Citizens’ Service Bureau, Old Townhall, etc.) or by the state of Upper Austria (Landeskulturzentrum Ursulinenhof, etc.) will be able to proivde information material but no tickets.
Linz09-Info
Linz09-Infos are information points in Linz’s “Volkshäuser”, cultural institutions and already existing information centres of Tourismusverband Linz, which will stock information materials.
Thanks to the Linz09 project WIR (Hospitality City) the so-called Linz09-Friends and public institutions involved in the project also stock information material.
The entire network of information points is monitored by Infomanagement staff so that their stock of material is constantly replenished.
