Press Release
3 September 2008
“In conjunction with our logo launch, Linz09 put a tasty accent on its public image with its diversified Linz09 Beverage Assortment. At the same time, our drinks are a part of a culture of enjoyment that is itself, in turn, an integral part of the Capital of Culture’s role as Europe’s official host city. These wines and schnaps are Linz’s way of endowing the Capital of Culture year with an atmosphere of Gemütlichkeit—something that can be enjoyed in restaurants, cafés, bars and at home as well. With this production, Linz09 has succeeded in satisfying the needs of consumers as well as retailers. We’re also pleased that creations of local producers and top-name growers from other Austrian regions are represented in our Beverage Assortment,” said Linz09 Financial Director Walter Putschögl.
Of particular importance to Linz09 is committed cooperation with a wide array of protagonists in Linz, Upper Austria and throughout the country. In the selection and the distribution of the Linz09 Beverage Assortment, members of the hotspots alliance as well as the food & beverage industry in (and beyond) this region are key associates of the Capital of Culture as well as important goodwill ambassadors in getting the Linz09 idea across to consumers. The job of promoting Linz 2009 European Capital of Culture also calls for taking optimal advantage of synergies between Linz09 and the food & beverage industry.
“As the city administration’s tourism expert, I’m pleased about the diverse activities of our local food & beverage establishments and their effective cooperation with Linz09. These businesses are important representatives of our region, and they’ll play a major role in determining how successfully the Capital of Culture year turns out from the perspective of tourism and business. Networking, mutual support and an inclusive to approach to promotion yield benefits for the gastronomy scene as well as Linz09. We have to join forces to take advantage of this,” said Deputy Mayor Erich Watzl about Linz09’s collaboration with the local food & beverage sector.
