CROSSING EUROPE Award European Competition sponsored by Linz09

This year's CROSSING EUROPE Awards were yet another high-profile manifestation of the film festival’s outstanding working relationship with Linz 2009 European Capital of Culture. “Prizes aren’t just the glamorous highlights of this festival; they deliver real aid and much-needed recognition to the filmmakers so honored. And that’s reason enough for Linz09 to subsidize the European competition’s grand prize,” (Martin Heller, artistic director of Linz09)

The gala presentation ceremony was held on Saturday, April 26, 2008 at the OK Mediadeck. Following deliberations by an international jury, the CROSSING EUROPE Award went to French director/actress Isild Le Besco for her film CHARLY (F, 2007). The CROSSING EUROPE Award European Competition is sponsored by Linz 2009 European Capital of Culture and is accompanied by a cash prize of 10,000 euros.
