Zu Gast bei Stifter. Mittagslesungen
20 Thursdays at 1:30 PM on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month (with a summer break from mid-July to mid-September)
The StifterHaus was the centerpoint of Adalbert Stifter’s life and his workplace for 20 years. It has housed the Adalbert Stifter Institute for more than 50 years, and served for the last 15 as a center dedicated especially to contemporary Upper Austrian literature. In Adalbert Stifter’s study on the house’s 2nd Upper Level, world-class literature came into being. Hospitality and fine dining were also a very important part of life for both husband and wife.On 20 Thursdays during the Capital of Culture year, 20 Upper Austrian authors will give 30-minute readings from their own work in the Adalbert Stifter Commemorative Room. Immediately following each reading, author and audience will be invited to proceed to the Seminar Room on the 1st Upper Level where soup prepared in one of numerous variations will be served.
Literature as invitation and encouragement to “decelerate” everyday life and combined with the opportunity to engage in the fine art of conversation over a light lunch is designed to make this series of events a very special highlight of the Capital of Culture year.
Each installment will last about an hour so that working people on their midday break will be able to fit it into their schedule.
Participating authors: Reinhold Aumaier, Margret Czerni, Adelheid Dahimène, Hans Eichhorn, Erwin Einzinger, Eva Fischer, Rudolf Habringer, Walter Kohl, Ludwig Laher, Fritz Lichtenauer, Patricia Josefine Marchart, Kurt Mitterndorfer, Walter Pilar, Elisabeth Vera Rathenböck, Elisabeth Reichart, Andreas Renoldner, Waltraud Seidlhofer, Wilfried Steiner, Richard Wall and Andreas Weber
