And this time there is no escape. This summer the whole of Linz is going to be covered in theatre and dance. Created by extraordinary international and local talents.
After the massive success of THEATRE MANIA1: SNOW STORM and the opening of the Hafenhalle09 in the dark, cold days of winter, THEATRE MANIA2: SUNBURN heads out-doors into the warmth and light of the Upper Austrian summer.
As art forms, theatre and dance are too inventive and far too much fun to confine audiences to sitting on chairs in darkened rooms. So our programme includes performances in the street, in a garden, on top of a hill and under a motorway bridge, in tents and on buses or bicycles.
Whether you decide to follow the invitation of the drums of kutiyattam theatre from India or the Gamelan of Wayang Kulit, the ancient Balinese shadow puppet theatre - two of the oldest theatre forms still practiced today - or you decide to take Bus 27 or ride bicycles through the city of Linz, all productions promise, like in THEATRE MANIA1, performances of the highest quality and unique theatrical experiences.
Linz09 continues its important and very successful collaboration with SICHT:WECHSEL with two world premieres and is pleased to be working together with a host of local organizations including: Lentos, Theater Hausruck, theaternyx, Potatello Kompanii, Amateurtheater Oberösterreich and RSC Heindl OÖ wheelchair rugby team.
Also, do not miss the 2nd part of our ACADEMY OF THE IMPOSSIBLE and participate in a range of workshops, some being taught by artists of the summer festival.
