In conjunction with “UmLinzRum”—literally “round about Linz,” one of the projects being staged as a lead-in to the Capital of Culture year—the first writers’ workshop was held last fall in the Czech city of Budweis. On February 6, 2007, the first contingent of texts to emerge from this project will be presented at a reading in Linz.
The conclave in Budweis in late October 2006 kicked off a series of “UmLinzRum” workshops slated to be held in Linz’s partner cities. Local authors and literary scholars offer writing enthusiasts the opportunity to jointly compose texts depicting historical and current connections to Linz. The first “UmLinzRum” volume containing the output from the Budweis workshop under the direction of initiator Oskar Terš and writer Jaromir Konency will be presented in February 2007 at a reading by the authors in the Stifterhaus.
