International PEN Literary Festival
The international PEN Club will be hosting a celebration of literature October 22-24 in Linz. The watchwords of this get-together are “Words, words, nothing but words…?” The lineup includes about 30 readings, panel discussions and literary excursions.
Serving as venue will be the Design Center, which is being adapted for this occasion into a setting conducive to interpersonal communication. On Friday, October 23, the hub will be a lounge in which writers, journalists and guests can meet & greet one another amidst a casual ambience. It will be open before, during and after every event on the program.Offerings include readings, workshops and discussions, as well as outings in and around Linz. Occupying the focal point of all these activities will be The Word in all its forms—spoken, printed, written and drawn. Festivalgoers will get a close-up look at the making of books and Japanese manga culture. There’ll also be a poetry slam. Several events on the program will be conducted in English.
For the PEN Club, this festival is above all proof positive that literature is alive and well!
