A New Music Excursion in Upper Austria’s Scenic Mühlviertel Region
The little town of Ulrichsberg up near the Czech border will be hosting Kaleidophon, an international festival of jazz, improvisation and new music. Now, as part of the Linz09 lineup, the 24th festival is able to stage three large-scale special projects.
French contrabass virtuoso Joëlle Léandre was commissioned to compose a new work for the festival. “Can you ear me?” will now be performed by a mostly Austrian ensemble. The highlight of the second day is Ulrichsberger musician Tanja Feichtmair’s “Omnixus,” a spatial sound configuration that can be individually fine-tuned. On the third day, a linen weaving mill will be the setting of a musical encounter with weaving and patterns. “Weaving Sounds” is a tonal experience by the group Six plus One.Kaleidophon
