schau, Austria's Art Magazine for Young People, Features Linz09
Copyright: Schau Kunstmagazin
The premiere issue of schau contains two features that deal with the Capital of Culture. This recently launched monthly art magazine is a wide-ranging look at the arts that’s especially geared for young audiences. It’s available at the Linz09 Infocenter on Hauptplatz.
With interviews, reportage, portraits and recommendations, schau delivers a comprehensive and very interesting picture of what’s happening across the artistic spectrum right now. Its approach is to relate works of art to the experiential horizon of young people and to elaborate on interrelationships with historical periods and genres. schau spotlights current offerings of Austrian art institutions and the creative artists who work with them. Content is presented in a way that appeals to young audiences as well as teachers and parents, and showcases contemporary art as an exciting laboratory for experiences and a realm of lively learning and experimentation.Under the heading kunstschau, curator Brigitte Felderer presents a biographical sketch of Long Tak Sam, one of the featured artists in the “Doing Magic” exhibition at the Nordico Museum. And in the kunstbau section, Elke Krasny discusses contemporary architecture using the example of the new Ars Electronica Center and its state-of-the-art façade
The first issue of schau is available for €3.20 at the Linz09Shop on Hauptplatz. Subscriptions will be offered beginning in the fall.
