Austria wasn’t the only country showcasing its European Capital of Culture at the ITB–International Travel Trade Show last week in Berlin. Germany also presented Linz09’s successor, Ruhr.2010. Their reps got together to talk shop.
During the year prior to the Ruhr District’s stint as European Capital of Culture, there’s tremendous interest in Linz09’s themes and projects on the part of German organizers. Linz09 Financial Director Walter PutschöglGeorg Steiner brought a Linzer Torte with them when they paid a call on their Ruhr.2010 counterparts. They related experiences thus far and discussed potential joint ventures involving the two European capitals of culture, since the aim of both is to take advantage of this opportunity for sustainable development in the areas of culture and tourism.
