Compose Sounds and Choreograph Words

Hear music, feel sounds, create your own works—youngsters can get hands-on musical experience at “Compose!” workshops being held on January 27 by Linz09 and the Anton Bruckner Private University.
Composing? What’s that mean? That’s exactly what Linz09’s “Compose!” project is all about. On January 27, 2009 at 5 PM, music enthusiasts age 6 and up are invited to take part in a “KinderMitmachKonzert” at Anton Bruckner Private University, where undergraduates have been working together with composer/concert pedagogue Bernhard König to develop a teaching approach designed to acquaint young people with contemporary music. They’ll now present the outcome of these efforts. Participants will encounter compositions that are over 200 years old as well as some created just recently. They’ll experience the act of composing right up close, and thus not only hear the compositions but see them as well. The results: unforgettable insights into how pieces of music originate.
