Linz09 is getting a performance venue of its very own. The location on the grounds of Linz Harbor will provide adequate space and a suitable setting for Capital of Culture year events and productions.
The Linz 2009 Corporation’s Board of Directors gave the go-ahead at their meeting on Tuesday. On a piece of property owned by Linz AG on the Port of Linz’s 3rd Harbor Basin, Linz AG will erect a hall to accommodate Linz09 events. Beginning in November 2008, it will be leased to the Linz 2009 Corporation, which will operate this facility during the Capital of Culture year. This hall will serve primarily as a venue for performing arts presentations, though its 2,000 m² of space is enough for projects like the Subversive Fair and the Extra Europa symposium.
Accessibility by public transportation is also part of the plan: bus line 27A (Culture Line) will be extended along Donaulände all the way to the harbor. Plus, for visitors who prefer to drive to Linz09 events, ample parking is available right on the facility’s grounds.
