TIEFENRAUSCH - Art and Tours through the Underworlds of Linz
Press conference, 28 March 2008
30 May – 13 July 2008
Opening: Thurs., 29 Mai 2008
A project of the OK Offenes Kulturhaus Upper Austria with Linz 2009 European Capital of Culture
The project consists of five parts:
A broad cultural-historical entry porthole is provided by the Museum of the Underworlds in the OK. In the extensive tunnel system of the Aktienkeller, installations and videos by international artists merge into an impressive "Stream of Forgetfulness". In the Landstraße of Linz, artistically arranged plastic tubes replace the cast iron manhole covers as entrance to the underworld of the city. Finally, Tiefenrausch offers an extensive range of tours to interesting underground places that are normally closed to the public (crypts, Danube culverts, water reservoirs). A special attraction in the OK Platz is a diving tower with water from the lake Attersee.
