Everyone knows how wonderful a church can sound when it’s filled with music. Since early September, the SONUS LOCI project has been presenting new music in Linz churches. SONUS LOCI AETHERIS is the title of the concluding concert in which 10 churches will be interlinked with sound.

SONUS LOCI has featured composer/sound artist Klaus Hollinetz delivering live electro-acoustic performances in Linz churches. Each piece—experimental works, New Music, improvisation and specially commissioned compositions—is created expressly for the respective space in which it is performed. In this spirit, SONUS LOCI AETHERIS presents a concert in manifold versions performed at a variety of auditory spaces. The connective element is an electro-acoustic tonal track transmitted in real time via radio devices to the various churches, where they are taken up by musicians and musically processed further. These new sounds are then, in turn, fed back into the radio linkup connecting the respective churches and propagated via the ether. The result will be a listening experience that, in the true sense of the word, encompasses the locations and spaces through which these sound waves vibrate.
