See this Sound
Visualizing what can be heard is what “See this Sound” is all about. An exhibition focusing on the interplay of sounds and images opens at the Lentos Kunstmuseum Linz on August 28.
Audiovisual phenomena make up the world revealed to us by our perceptive faculties. Everywhere, the optical melds with the acoustic, the visible with the audible. Needless to say, this interrelationship is also reflected in art, media and the theory of perception. The “See this Sound” exhibition presents works that exemplify the many ways artists have approached this creative challenge since the 1920s. Debuting in conjunction with the exhibition’s opening is an extensive multimedia encyclopedia in which users—laymen and scholars alike—can access texts about the history of culture and media as well as descriptions of artworks. September 2-3, experts from throughout the world will be convening in Linz for a symposium. The overall project is a collaborative effort of Linz09, the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute Media.Art.Research. and the Lentos Kunstmuseum Linz.See this Sound
