Enjoy alfresco performances of international dance & theatre productions staged at unusual venues in Linz. Here’s your chance to win free tickets!
Last January and February, Theatre Mania1: Snowstorm got the Capital of Culture year underway with world-class drama. Now, in line with the change of seasons, Linz09 presents Theatre Mania2: Sunburn. The festival lineup consists entirely of open-air performances at locations that are out-of-the-ordinary to say the least: under the expressway bridge, in busses, and on bicycles, for instance. The entire programme—drama from India, Balinese shadow theatre, dance from Brazil and Belgium, Turkish puppetry, African performance art and theatrical excursions on Linz’s Bus Line 27—is online at www.linz09.at/theaterlust2.The festival kicks off with “nieuZwart (New Black),” a play by Wim Vandekeybus and Ultima Vez. This Belgian company has been a star of Europe’s contemporary dance scene for decades. We’re giving away 15 pairs of tickets to the performance on July 29 at 9 PM.
