His works have garnered high praise and been singled out for recognition with prizes at numerous international biennials and cultural festivals. A major one-man show featuring Turkish filmmaker and artist Kutlug Ataman will be running until April 19 at the Lentos Art Museum Linz. This definitely belongs in the don’t-miss category!

The disparities between what is “ones own” and what is “foreign,” conflict that emerges from tradition and convention, and the boundary separating a religious world view from a secular one are at the center of Kutlug Ataman’s films, videos and photography.
This exhibition at the Lentos focuses on upheavals in Turkey over recent decades and the tension between East and West. As Turkey’s most internationally successful artist, Kutlug Ataman gives particular attention to consideration of a question posed very frequently in his homeland: Europe’s geographical, cultural, ideational and ideological borders. Please take advantage of this opportunity to visit a showing of this very important artist’s work!
