Round-number Anniversary: HeimspielTurns 20
In 1989, Linz’s Posthof launched a daring enterprise: a whole month’s program dedicated to local and regional musicians. The result was a hit! During the Capital of Culture year, Heimspiel (Home Match) celebrates its 20th anniversary.*
Once again in 2009, Posthof’s February program of events focuses on Upper Austria. That’s no coincidence; it’s the 20th anniversary Heimspiel, which will, as always, feature a focal-point theme. New this time around is a theater competition for young artists, for which Linz09 has endowed prizes in the amount of 10,000, 5,000 and 3,000 euros. Along with their cash stipends, each winner will also be commissioned to develop a new play to be staged in conjunction with Heimspiel 2010.A lineup of bands including Mondscheiner, Texta and Russkaja will impart regional musical accents to Heimspiel09.
