Live Feed of the Opening Concert

Needless to say, the opening series of events wouldn’t be complete without a concert lineup. One highlight is the European premiere of Philip Glass’ latest symphony. On New Year’s Day at 4 PM, a live feed direct from the Brucknerhaus will be screened on Hauptplatz.
The Bruckner Orchestra Linz and its conductor Dennis Russell Davies will perform the European premiere of Philip Glass’ Symphony, and, paying tribute to Joseph Haydn in his Bicentennial Year 2009, Haydn’s Symphony No. 99 in E-flat in the Brucknerhaus.The concert will be followed by the film made for the intermission of this year’s New Year’s Concert by the Vienna Philharmonic: it’s dedicated to Linz 2009 European Capital of Culture.
