STANDARD TIME – volunteers needed
Copyright: Datenstrudel
The gala opening of Culture Capital Year will be a unique event for Linz – and you can be part of it all! We’re looking for volunteers to help put together the STANDARD TIME project.
1611! That is the number of changes to be made to the digital display STANDARD TIME. 26 planks make up this 4x12 metre structure, and they will be shifted around 1611 times during the 24 hours of December 31st, 2008. Berlin's Datenstrudel are the artists in charge of this countdown to the start of our Cultural Capital Year. But we need your help! Linz09 is looking for volunteers to join in the fun of putting time through its paces and assembling a minute by minute display showing exactly how far the countdown has progressed. We need people to carry ladders and hold them steady. We need people to hold the planks in place and screw them together. You will work in teams of six. Anyone is welcome to join in, but tall people are especially welcome, as each group must have a least two six footers.
Cooperation is its own reward, and it will leave you with lasting memories, but it will be our pleasure to provide all our volunteers with food and drink. Linz09 will also be providing all the kit needed. To make sure everything goes without a hitch on the great occasion there will be rehearsals on 29 and 30 December each lasting no more than three hours.
