WelcomeCard Linz09: A Friendly Hello in Any Language
15.12.2008Bienvenue à Linz09! And: Hvala da ste Linz 09 posjetili! The WelcomeCard Linz09 featuring greetings in 12 different languages is a really handy little aid to help Linzers welcome their international visitors during the Capital of Culture year.
We’re all aware of how important a first impression is. The WelcomeCard Linz09 is designed to make it easier to greet and converse with our guests from abroad. It puts useful phrases in English, French, Spanish, Greek, Albanian and several other European languages in a convenient format right at your fingertips. Among this project’s many supporters is Hotspots, a hospitality industry trade group whose members are proprietors of 56 meeting places for language course participants and interested foreign-language-speaking guests from all over the world. In conjunction with this campaign, teachers and language trainers are offering instruction in 16 different languages to friendly folks interested in new intercultural contacts. Among the many prominent supported of the WelcomeCard Linz09 are Upper Austria Governor Josef Pühringer, Angela Orthner, speaker of the province legislature, and Linz Mayor Franz Dobusch. Linz09 Artistic Director Martin Heller and Financial Director Walter Putschögl have also agreed to serve on the Welcome-Board09.The WelcomeCard is available at Linz schools, in the Wissensturm and at WIFI Linz.
