ECoC – this acronym refers not only to European Capitals of Culture as such but also to a loose network of such cities designed to facilitate regular exchanges: at the next one it will be Linz’s turn to play host.
Benefiting from the experiences of former Capitals of Culture, comparing planning processes, evaluating strategies – in a word: cultivating a lively exchange on a number of related topics is central to the agenda of ECoC meetings. The organizers of former, present and future Capitals of Culture meet on a regular basis. At the end of October around 25 ECoC representatives from Liverpool (2008), Stavanger (2008), Vilnius (2009), the Ruhr Area (2010), Pecs (2010), Istanbul (2010), Tallinn (2011), Guimaraes (2012), Copenhagen (2017) and Marseilles (2013) will hold one of their reunions in Linz.
